Finishing The Dream announced!
After dedicating his life to providing access to the sea for all disabled people, quadriplegic adventurer and our Founder Geoff Holt MBE DL is embarking on an incredible voyage, demonstrating that there are no limits to our dreams.
To celebrate 40 years in a wheelchair, Geoff will be skippering a boat around the UK through some of the most dangerous and congested waters in the world, in aid of the Wetwheels Foundation. Geoff, with James and Sam from Wetwheels South-East, will be travelling the 1,500 miles around the UK coastline in the original Wetwheels, across 4 to 6 weeks, departing from London on 13th May 2024.
Geoff will be making 17 key stops to inspire disabled people to get on the water and he is also aiming to raise over £1M for The Wetwheels Foundation, adding another 4 boats to the fleet due to the incredible demand, enabling 5,000 people per year to experience the magic of the open water and the joy this brings to so many lives.
“I am really excited to be circumnavigating the UK again although, knowing the challenges that lay ahead, this will be the most daring and challenging project I ever undertaken. I have been in a wheelchair for 40 years this year, although wiser and more experienced, my body is not as forgiving as it once was. The journey ahead will be a test for not only my physical endurance but also a mental challenge.
Hopefully, by demonstrating a quadriplegic, 40 years paralysed from the chest down, still has the ability to achieve my dreams, it will inspire more disabled people to find out more about Wetwheels and for more people to sponsor and support the amazing work we do. Can we say a huge thank you to our sponsors The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, Raymarine, Hugh James and RS Marine Group for their wonderful support”. Geoff Holt MBE DL.
